The Kia e-Niro has been honoured as the ‘Best Electric Car’ in the 2019 Global Mobi Awards. The Global Mobi Awards, held annually in Portugal, recognises the leading names in the intelligent mobility sector.
The Kia e-Niro electric crossover took home the Best Electric Car award ahead of a growing number of rivals in the EV segment. The award was one of a number announced this week at the Global Mobi Awards event in Lisbon, with prizes for a range of organisations and initiatives in the intelligent mobility sector.
« The Kia e-Niro’s award from the Global Mobi Awards jury is clear recognition of the role that the car is playing as Kia continues to popularise EVs among drivers in Portugal and across Europe, » said João Seabra, general director of Kia Motors Portugal. « Our fully-electric crossover has been widely praised for its long driving range, on-road performance and blend of crossover styling and practicality. This latest award is evidence of Kia’s desire to introduce desirable, low-emissions vehicles. »
Kia e-Niro – zero-emissions electric crossover with 455 km driving range
Kia’s first fully-electric crossover, the e-Niro offers a driving range of up to 455 kilometres (282 miles)* on a single charge – and up to 615 kilometres (382 miles) in the city**. Now on-sale in select European markets, the e-Niro offers greater driving range than many gasoline cars and most mainstream electric vehicles – and even a number of significantly more expensive electric cars. Its unique combination of style and practicality is matched by Kia’s unrivalled 7-Year, 150,000-kilometre warranty, which also covers the battery pack and electric motor.
Depending on market, the e-Niro is available with a long-range, high-capacity 64 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery, as well as a 39.2 kWh power pack, which offers drivers up to 289 km (179 miles) of zero-emissions motoring on a full charge. Plugged into a 100 kW fast charger, it takes only 42 minutes to recharge the e-Niro’s 64 kWh battery from 20% to 80%.
