Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, registered monthly domestic sales of 8,291 units in August 2019 whereas the number of export units stood at 227 last month.
Commenting on the industry sales, Mr. Rajesh Goel, Senior Vice President and Director-Sales and Marketing, Honda Cars India Ltd said, “The auto sector continues to witness high de-growth due to poor consumer sentiment. This is despite the high discounts prevailing in the market which makes it the best time to buy cars. We hope the recent measures taken by the government will help in improving consumer sentiment and demand creation as we move forward. With the impending festive season, the sales are likely to pick-up in coming months.”
The company’s Aug’19 results are also on a higher base of Aug’18 when All New Amaze was in its early months after mega launch. The company had sold 17,020 units in domestic market in August 2018.
However, the domestic sales of Honda Cars India had declined 41.40 per cent to 10,314 units in June 2019, while the numbers had dropped 48.67 per cent to 10,250 units in July 2019.
